Shinus Molle known as Pepperwood in New Zealand and by a host of other names; often referred to as Peruvian Peppertree seems to have a variety of origins. My joy as it is a great woodwork, rewarding work poured into it.
The holes and voids turn up in many forms, no uniformity, endless variations and wonderful results. Rough wood turning at its best. The wood has fabulous colour, gorgeous grain, twists and curls and rewards good design. These are evident in this piece.
I produce a range of bowls within this style. All have food safe finishes. Colouring is usually by Pyrographic ebonising.
Comissions in Pepperwood and other timbres are available and details can be found on the contact page.
