Large bowls are often fun to design and make. Some are made from rough burls – such as this one. The Burls encourage play in the design and improvising while turning. The holes and imperfections in the wood are the characteristics that I try to bring out, its what makes the piece an individual.
Domestic use
Large rough-wood bowls such as this one made from this South Island burl have a standard domestic use. A little difficult in this case to hold small goods – however, it will serve for years holding fruit and vegetables, taking the kitchen knocks and bumps, and still looking good.
The standard finishes are food safe and ready for household use.
Commission work
